Pantawid cards for multicab drivers

CEBU, Philippines - The Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board and the Land Transportation Office-7 is requesting their respective head offices for the inclusion of more than 3,000 multicab drivers in the region in the availment of the Pantawid Pasada Cards.

LTFRB Regional Director Ahmed Cuizon said that multicab drivers also belong to the marginalized sector that also deserves government support just like the public utility jeepney drivers.

Cuizon said that so far they have not received any feedback yet from their head office.

LTO-7 Regional Director Raul Aguilos said that of the 11,666 Pasada Cards intended for the region’s PUJ drivers, only 7,920 were given and the remaining cards were already returned to the Department of Energy.

The Pantawid Pasada Cards are given to beneficiaries at no cost.

The Pantawid Pasada Program is an interim measure of the government to cushion the impact of high fuel prices specifically among the public utility jeepneys.

The said card is pre-loaded with P1,050.00, the amount each card contains.

It can be recalled that President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III issued Executive Order No. 32 or the so-called the Pantawid Pasada Program as fuel assistance for jeepney drivers.

DOE-7 regional director Antonio Labios said that there will be a reload of the cards but there is no definite amount yet as well as the date of issuance. (FREEMAN)
