CEBU, Philippines - A man was shot dead Friday afternoon while playing tossing coins for a game at Sitio Villagonzalo 2, Barangay Tejero, Cebu City.
Pablo Omar, 29, a resident of the said place, was shot by a certain Elyong, his neighbor.
PO3 Geoffrey Gutual, Cebu City Police Office homicide investigator, told The FREEMAN that the victim was with several friends playing “hantak” when the assailant suddenly arrived at around 4:20 pm.
While the victim was busy attending to the game, Elyong stood at the back of the victim, pulled out an unidentified gun and shot him in the head, Gutual said.
Playmates and neighbors of the victim scampered for cover while the assailant fled on foot towards the interior portion of the place.
Omar was rushed to Cebu City Medical Center where he struggled for few hours before he was declared dead by his attending physician.
In their follow-up operation, the police identified the assailant as Alfredo “Elyong” Gagoni Jr. , who harbored a grudge against the victim. It was learned that a friend of Omar mauled one of the assailant’s friends recently.
“Gi-bawsan gyud to siya (victim) tungod lang kay gikulata ang iyang amigo sa amigo ra sad sa biktima,” Gutual said. The assailant remains at large. (FREEMAN)
