- Jessica Ann R. Pareja -

CEBU, Philippines - Senator Pia Cayetano donated P3 million to the Cebu City Government for the rehabilitation of the Cebu City Medical Center.

Mayor Michael Rama received the notice for Cash Allocation from the Department of Budget and Management in Manila yesterday, notifying that the funds are available and may be used anytime.

The assistance is chargeable to the senator’s Priority Development Assistance Fund.

The Notice of Allocation specified that the P3-million financial assistance to the city is for the rehabilitation of the CCMC particularly the OB department, the Delivery Room and the Pediatrics Ward.

Rama said that the rehabilitation shall improve the delivery of health services at the city-owned hospital.

Once improved, the OB department, delivery room and the pediatrics ward shall address the concern of the hospital on the increasing number of patients.

Rama said that another P3 million is coming from Senator Alan Peter Cayetano. It will serve as an indigent fund that can be utilized for health services.

The indigent fund is for the medical and hospitalization program, among others.

Senator Alan Cayetano is also allotting P5 million to barangay Agsungot of this city for the improvement of farm-to-market roads.

Barangay Agsungot is a mountain barangay two hours away from the city. It is undeniable that a large portion of its road needs concreting to increase accessibility in the area.

All funds before disbursed are subject to existing budgeting, accounting and auditing rules and regulations.  (FREEMAN)
