Teenager stabbed

- Ria Mae Y. Booc -

CEBU, Philippines - A 15-year-old boy was repeatedly stabbed by his neighbor after he reportedly failed to answer his question as he passed them along the road of Barangay Mambaling, Cebu City last Friday at about 7:00 in the evening.

The victim was taken to the Cebu City Medical Center due to stab wounds on his chest, head and on the back of his body.

The physician had declared him safe and he was scheduled to go home yesterday afternoon.

The family of the victim did not have any idea why the suspect Norman Navarro, 33, a trisikad driver and resident of Barangay San Nicolas, stabbed the victim that night while passing them along the road.

Navarro is still at large.

Initial police investigation disclosed that the victim was with his friend, a certain “Wendell,” walking towards the house of his older sister, Ruth.

The two passed by Navarro who was drinking with friends. Navarro asked them where they were going but they did not answer.

A few minutes later, the two noticed Navarro running towards them and suddenly punched the victim. Even if the victim was hit, the two managed to run but when they were near a store, Navarro caught up with them and stabbed the victim thrice.

SPO1 William Mondragon of the Mambaling Police Station said the father of the victim went to their station to pursue the filing of frustrated murder case against Navarro.

The police are still investigating the case if Navarro and the victim had personal grudges or the suspect was merely drunk. (FREEMAN)
