Man shot dead in Toledo
CEBU, Philippines - A man was shot dead by his companion who identified himself as his relative on Thursday morning in Sitio Cabulihan, Barangay Ilihan, Toledo City.
Cesario Sepada, 37, married and of Barangay Gen Climaco died on the spot due to multiple gunshot wounds on his chest.
Police are still trying to locate the assailant because witnesses failed to get the plate number of the motorcycle.
PO2 Roel Suquib of the Toledo City Police Station said the driver of the motorcycle who identified himself as Jonas Sanchez was the one who killed Sepada.
A day before the incident happened Suquib said Sanchez went to the house of Sepada and introduced himself as his distant relative.
He then asked Sepada to accompany him on Thursday in Barangay Magdugo to get a chainsaw from there. At about 11:00 in the morning on Thursday while Sepada and Sanchez were on board a motorcycle, they stopped at a store in Barangay Ilihan to buy some bread and soft drinks.
Sanchez alighted from the motorcycle and went to the store but instead of giving the items that he bought, he shot Sepada on the chest. Sanchez then took the motorcycle and sped off towards Barangay Poblacion.
Recovered from the scene were three empty shells of caliber .45 pistol.
According to the wife of Sepada, a few days ago another man was looking for her husband but Sepada refused to meet him.
“Ingon sa asawa nga igo lang niingon ang bana nga ingnon nga wala siya unya mura’g nahadlok kuno,” Suquib said.
The Toledo City police are now asking an artist at the Scene of the Crime Operatives in Cebu City to make a cartographic sketch of the gunman. (FREEMAN)
