Shipping company loses P300T to robbers

CEBU, Philippines - A shipping company in Danao City lost almost P300,000 cash after its ticketing officer was held up by unidentified persons while on his way to deposit their earnings last Thursday afternoon in Barangay Poblacion.

The victim, Jimmy Cole, 30, of Barangay Panalipan, Catmon and ticketing officer of the Jomalla Shipping Lines, did not resist after the suspect aimed an unidentified caliber of firearm at him.

SPO2 Ildefonso Prosia said that Cole was onboard a trisikad from the office of the said shipping lines and was heading for Allied Bank to deposit their proceeds.

As the trisikad reached F. Ralota St. of the said barangay, a Honda Wave motorcycle bearing plate number DD-6891 with two males onboard suddenly blocked their way. The suspects were said to be wearing masks.

The armed back rider disembarked from the vehicle and aimed his gun at Cole as he asked for the green bag where the P274, 123 cash was placed.

Prosia said Cole did not resist nor attempt to fight the suspect who just left onboard to the waiting motorcycle and fled towards Cebu City.

Prosia said they are still investigating the case and are trying to locate the whereabouts of the duo through the plate number of the motorcycle.

“Maayo na lang gani nga nakuha nila ang plate number kay dali man ma-trace kung kinsa gyud ang tag-iya ato,” the cop said. (FREEMAN)
