Woman bound then robbed
CEBU, Philippines - A woman was tied, robbed and allegedly groped by an unidentified robber yesterday morning in a mall parking lot in Barangay Banilad, Cebu City.
The woman, a resident of Friendly Homes, Barangay Tabok, Mandaue City, was accosted by a robber yesterday while entering her vehicle parked in the said parking space.
Cebu City Police Office Theft and Robbery Section investigator SPO2 Edgaro Galado said the victim was tailed by the unknown robber while she remotely opened her car at around 10:30 a.m.
The robber then threatened the victim with an ice pick and told her not to resist.
“Ayaw lang og palag mam kay tulis ni mam,” Galado quoted the victim as saying.
He said that the robber then tied the victim to her car’s steering wheel using strips of torn cloth.
With the victim bound, the suspect took P10,000 cash from her wallet, a golden bracelet and a pair of silver earrings. He allegedly also fondled her breast before fleeing on foot.
The victim used her car horn and wipers to try to catch the attention of passersby and was eventually rescued after a man spotted her.
The victim, who sustained several puncture wounds in her right shoulder from the ice pick, was rushed to the hospital where she opted to be confined.
Galado said they are currently giving the victim some time to recover after her ordeal inside her car.
Once ready, Galado said they will bring the victim to CCPO-TRS where she will be asked to spot the robber from the police gallery. A police sketch of the robber will also be made through the help of the victim.
Galado said that this was the first time that the incident happened inside the mall’s parking area.
Earlier this year, CCPO-TRS conducted several security seminars with several establishments with big parking areas where robbery cases are high. (FREEMAN)
