Tanods arrest 2 robbers
CEBU, Philippines - Two alleged robbers were apprehended on Friday at Barangay Bulacao-Pardo, Cebu City in a hot pursuit operation conducted by tanods of the said barangay.
Aneceto Ebrado, 21, and Christopher Nadal, 18, of Barangay San Roque, Talisay City were arrested by barangay tanods Warren Noquiao, Arnel Alcantara, William Sabejon and Christopher Cabañero on Friday at around 9:20 p.m.
This was after Hyde Pareja, 58, of Tuyan, Naga City, Cebu, sought help from the Bulacao-Pardo Barangay Hall after being victimized allegedly by the two robbers.
Immediately, the tanods, who saw Pareja hurriedly disembarking from a PUJ, conducted a hot pursuit operation which led to the capture of the two suspects.
“We were on our duty when a passenger vehicle abruptly stopped in front of the barangay hall where a woman reported that she and other passengers were robbed,” the tanods said in their affidavit.
The two suspects were reportedly spotted coming out from the side of a road near the bushes at a dimly lit area of Sitio Laguna of the said barangay. They were later positively identified by Pareja as the robbers.
Surrounded by the tanods, the two suspects did not resist arrest. Seized from the possession of Ebrado was a .38 caliber paltik revolver with bullets while a .22 magnum revolver and bullets were confiscated from Nadal.
Nadal, however, denied the allegations against them. He said they were only picked up by the tandos. “Gi-kalitan ra mi og dakop sa mga tanod,” he told The FREEMAN.
The two were later turned over to the Cebu City Police Office Theft and Robbery Section.
The police wanted to charge them with robbery yesterday morning but the prosecutor was not available so they were brought back to the CCPO for detention. (FREEMAN)
