2 commit suicide

- Ria Mae Y. Booc -

CEBU, Philippines - Two persons ended their lives in separate suicide incidents in the province on Wednesday.

A broken love affair prompted a 22-year-old man to shoot himself using a revolver at a copra drier in Sitio Gaang, Barangay Lamesa, Balamban at about 12:30 in the afternoon.

Nerio Sabido’s body was found by his relatives who went outside and checked a few minutes after hearing a gun fire rang out.

Near his body was a notebook where he wrote a suicide note. He asked for forgiveness from his parents and siblings for killing himself because of his love for a certain Angely.

“Nangayo siya og pasaylo nga naghikog siya tungod sa iyang hinigugma,” said PO1 Godofredo Dumdum of the Balamban Police Station.

Nobody could tell if the couple broke up or had an argument because Sabido had kept silent about it, his family said.

Upon further investigation, Dumdum said Sabido was drinking liquor before he went to the copra drier which was about a kilometer away from his house. There, he shot himself in the head.

Police recovered an empty shell and the revolver loaded with four bullets.

Sabido’s body now lies at the chapel of their barangay.

Meanwhile, the hanging body of a 71-year-old widow was found by her nine-year-old granddaughter yesterday at about 8:00 in the morning inside the victim’s house in Barangay Lingigon, Argao.

Soledad Imbudo was seen with a nylon rope around her neck which was also tied to the frame of the kitchen door.

Escudio Imbudo, son of Soledad, suspected that her mother committed suicide due to her hypertension. The family refused to subject her body to an autopsy since they are convinced that there was no foul play. (FREEMAN)
