2 shot in Cebu City

CEBU, Philippines - A 14-year-old boy landed at the hospital after he was shot and got smashed on the head with a stone in Jude Acres, Barangay Bulacao, Cebu City at 3 a.m. yesterday.

The victim, an out of school youth, was on board a trisikad being driven by 19-year-old Jeferson Enanoria on their way to his house in sitio Ufiba when three young men, who are members of the notorious gang Crips, attacked them for unknown reasons.

One of the suspects identified as Raymond Algava alias Cabang shot them with a gun while Anecito Ebrado, Jr. struck the victim with a stone. The third companion stood as back up.

The suspects then fled.

The boy sustained a gunshot wound on the right side of his body and an injury on his head while Enanoria managed to run away unhurt.

Responding barangay tanods rushed the victim to the Cebu City Medical Center where he is being treated.

Police surmised the suspects just chanced upon the victims and attacked them which the police refer to as “paregla.”

Meanwhile, a 22-year-old murder suspect is in critical condition after he was also shot in Barangay Biasong, Talisay City early yesterday morning.

Alexander Abendan suffered at least six gunshot wounds on his stomach.

According to the investigation, the victim was walking at Zone 5 in the said barangay on his way home when an unidentified man, who was armed with a gun, suddenly appeared and shot him.

SPO1 Mike Espina of Talisay City Police Station said he alone had previously arrested Abendan for robbery cases but the victims might have not filed charges against him so Abendan was released from the detention cell.

The victim, who is described to be a toughie in their place, was also arrested in September this year for the shooting to death of a certain “Tukor”. He was consequently charged with murder while the police waited for a warrant of arrest against him.

Espina said the victim was shot in the place where he shot Tukor.

The police are eyeing retaliation as the most possible motive behind the attack on Abendan. — (FREEMAN)
