Two kill selves in Cebu City, Tabuelan

- Niña G. Sumacot-Abenoja -

CEBU, Philippines - Two people, including a teenage girl, were found dead in Cebu City and in Tabuelan town over the weekend.

At past 10am last Saturday, in Barangay Poblacion, Tabuelan town, 19-year-old Ecil Good was found hanging from the ceiling of her house with a rope around her neck.

Investigation revealed that Good had an argument with her younger sister prior to the incident. Their mother, Betty, reportedly later became part of the argument.

A few hours later, Analyn Arnado, a neighbor of the Good family, was fetching water near the Good’s residence when she glanced at Ecil’s room and saw the girl hanging from the ceiling.

Shocked with what she saw, Arnado immediately informed Ecil’s family.

Ecil was rushed to the Tabuelan District Hospital, but she was declared dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, in Cebu City, Arnel Cuizon, 34, was also found in the same state in his house in Little Baguio, Barangay Mambaling at 4am yesterday.

A two-meter long blanket was tied around his neck and attached to a beam at the ground floor of his two-story house. A yellow mono block chair was also found near the body.

Rey Cuizon, 34, the cousin’s victim, was the one who discovered the body.

Rey, a driver, said he arrived at the place after work and peeped through the door of his cousin’s house only to find him hanging and already unconscious.

He immediately informed Cuizon’s sister, Cherry Mae, of what he saw. Cherry Mae then called the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation (ERUF) and it was the ERUF personnel that declared Cuizon dead.

Cherry Mae said Cuizon has been depressed because of his heart ailment and asthma that he has suffered of for almost a year already. — (FREEMAN)
