New building, commander for Fuente police

- Niña G. Sumacot-Abenoja -

CEBU, Philippines - The new building of the Fuente Osmeña Police Station will be opened in the first week of December.

Cebu City Police Office director Melvin Ramon Buenafe said the station will have a new commander by then. The new building stands along Osmeña Boulevard, across the Police Regional Office-7 headquarters.

The building costs P6 million which was donated by the Chong Hua Hospital and the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Buenafe said they are evaluating some good officers under CCPO and will submit three names to Mayor Michael Rama to choose from.

“There are good officers in our office. We will be selecting them. Right now, wala pa ma-finalize but naa na ta’y names,” Buenafe said.

The CCPO director said this is to give due respect to Rama who has been doing its best for the CCPO to acquire the new police station.

Senior Insp. Stanley Sabang acts as the station commander following the relief of Chief Inspector Michael Bastes.

Bastes was relieved because of the death of robbery suspect Joven Tejano who was found beaten inside the police station.

The old station will still be maintained until they are ordered to vacate the place. The lot is owned by the provincial government.  (FREEMAN)
