CEBU, Philippines - A man believed to be involved in the illegal drug trade was shot to death outside the house of an alleged drug pusher early morning yesterday in Sitio Kasanta, Barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City.
Police suspected that the killing had something to do with illegal drugs after they found four small packets of shabu inside a small bottle in the pocket of the pants worn by the victim, Roy Aying, 34. Aying was a resident of Barangay Soong 1.
Aying died from a fatal shot on the head with the bullet exiting near his right ear. Investigation also showed that he was dragged about 15 meters away from the spot where he was killed, as manifested by marks on the ground.
The lights were on but the house, owned by one Jay Malingin, was already abandoned when the police arrived.
At the back portion of the house, police found a small room suspect to be a drug den because of the presence of drug paraphernalia, shabu residue and a notebook that reportedly contained transactions of illegal drugs.
SPO1 Manolito Abellanosa, homicide investigator at the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office, said the wooden window of the house owned by Malingin had a gunshot hole and foot wear print on it.
“Dunay lama sa tsinelas o sa sapatos ang bintana ug buslot agi sa bala possible ang gunman tua sa sulod,” he said.
Neighbors heard the gunfire, but did not see the perpetrator. “Duol ra man unta og balay pero mao lagi ni dili na maningog ang mga tao,” the cop said.
Near the victim’s body were two empty sacks of cement that police said the suspect might have used to drag his body away from the house. — (FREEMAN)
