Guba hospital to decongest CCMC

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu City Medical Center is expected to decongest once the community hospital in Guba starts admitting patients by January next year.

CCMC Chief of Hospital Gloria Duterte said they expect to get the license to operate for Guba Community Hospital by next year because they are working on all the requirements to be ready by December.

“Once makumpleto na ang requirements, magpa-inspect na dayon mi sa DOH (Department of Health). We are working hard to complete the requirements by December and hopefully get the license to operate by January,” Duterte said.

She said the full operation of the Guba hospital will decongest the CCMC because 24 barangays will benefit from it. CCMC is applying to secure a license for a level 1 Hospital.

Duterte said that they are awaiting the additional manpower needed to run a level 1 hospital since there are currently three doctors reporting for duty at the hospital that only provides out-patient services in the absence of the license to admit.

There are also four nurses, a driver for the ambulance assigned there.

Duterte said the hospital needs two additional doctors and four nurses, a pharmacist, a dietician, a radiology technician, a dentist and a dental aide, among others.

They are also expecting some P6 million worth of medical equipment for Guba which have been bid out and consist of a defibrillator, x-ray machine, nebulizers and ECG machines among others.

About P1 million worth of drugs will also be put at the hospital. An additional P500,000 for the purchase of medicines for Guba is also being proposed under the 2012 Annual Budget.

Structure wise, the Guba Hospital looks far better now after the rehabilitation and repair was finished last June.  (FREEMAN)
