CEBU, Philippines - Governor Gwendolyn Garcia has agreed to renovate Larsian only after the holidays and the Sinulog festivities next year.
Larsian vendors have requested the governor to put off renovation works until after the holidays and Sinulog wherein many people are expected to troop to the popular barbeque place. They said it would be difficult to continue their business during renovation.
Provincial Engineer Eulogio Pelayre said they were supposed to begin renovation works soon within two months and expected to finish before Christmas, but the vendors expressed apprehension that works might still carry on during the holidays, especially the installation of the solar light bulbs.
“I told them you can put it off until after the Sinulog,” Garcia said yesterday.
Capitol earlier approved P7.1-million to upgrade Larsian and turn it into what would be called “Eco-Larsian.”
Aside from the barbecue stalls, the new Eco-Larsian will also have a fruit stand. The barbecue grilling stations will be moved to the center and will be provided ventilation so that smoked will not be trapped within the place.
Vendors and customers will also be provided with washing facilities and four restrooms will be added to the existing 10.
The plan to upgrade the place came up when the group My Shelter Foundation proposed to Garcia to showcase the solar light bulbs at Larsian. (FREEMAN)
