Man accused of raping younger sister

- Ria Mae Y. Booc -

CEBU, Philippines - A 29-year-old man was accused of raping his 15-year-old sister several times until last Wednesday, he was caught by their mother about to rape his sister again inside their house in Sitio Tapon, Barangay Baigad, Bantayan Island.

The victim, youngest among five siblings, allegedly failed to inform their mother of the previous incidents because she was threatened by her brother.

The suspect was arrested by the Bantayan police while the victim was taken to the Pink Room of the Don Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City for medical examination.

Sr. Insp. Florencio Fajardo, Bantayan police chief, said the mother sought their help to have her son arrested after she caught him doing lascivious acts to her daughter.

The eldest sibling allegedly tried to ask their mother to settle the matter but she bent on filing criminal charges against her son.

“Siya (eldest) maoy sige’g sabot nga dili na lang ikiha aron dili masamok unya dili man gyud kadawat ang inahan,” Fajardo said.

The suspect reportedly chased their mother with a bolo.

Upon interrogation, the victim admitted she was raped seven times but could no longer recall when the first incident happened.

“Iyang mahinumduman kato rang June 10 nga nahilabtan pud siya,” the police said.

Neighbors allegedly believe the suspect has been using marijuana but police still have to confirm the reports.

The suspect is now detained at the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center. (FREEMAN)
