Gwen vows P3.1M in Liloan projects

-

CEBU, Philippines - Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia yesterday promised her son-in-law, Liloan Mayor Vincent Franco “Duke” Frasco, a birthday gift of P3.1 million in projects for the municipality.

Garcia also turned over a check worth P300,000 as financial assistance during the last Rosquillos Festival of the town.

Various projects were inaugurated yesterday in time for the 31st birthday of Frasco yesterday, hence the P3.1-million birthday gift.

Frasco said he will use the funds to finance projects and programs involving the youth as Garcia gave him free reign to choose how to utilize it.

The projects inaugurated yesterday were three new classrooms in the Tayud Elementary School funded by the provincial government and improvements to the Liloan Community Medical Center. These included an emergency room, an intensive care unit, a 10-bed lay-in facility and a pharmacy.

The Capitol also provided P500,000 worth of medical equipment.

The distance of Liloan to the hospitals in the cities of Cebu and Mandaue prompted Frasco to establish the medical center to address the emergency needs of his constituents.

Also turned-over were a brand new Toyota Hi-Ace for the Sangguniang Bayan worth P1.23 million; a Toyota Hilux each for the Liloan Police Department and Liloan Traffic Commission worth P1 million complete with accessories and two mini-dump trucks for the e-Gwen Program.

Cebu Provincial Police Office director Sr. Supt. Patrocinio Comendador, said that Liloan might have the best police car in the province if not in the entire Central Visayas.

The Police Regional Office-7 last Wednesday distributed 144 police patrol jeeps to different city and provincial police offices nationwide.

In Cebu Province; Alcoy, Aloguinsan, Badian, Carcar, Consolacion, Madridejos and Talisay City Police Stations will receive the additional patrol jeeps.

Also inaugurated was the Panphil B. Frasco Memorial Sports Complex in honor of Duke’s father who started the project 15 years ago. The Capitol provided a P5-million budget for the project last year.

Frasco said that his administration is prioritizing public services such as education, health and peace and order.

Garcia said that seeing such priorities is “public service as its finest for the greater good for the greater members.”

“I congratulate you for the wisdom of your choices,” she said.

Garcia said the sincerity and dedication of Liloan town officials made her promise to give the P3.1 million.(FREEMAN)
