PNP distributes 144 patrol cars in CV

CEBU, Philippines - All police stations in the province now have patrol cars after receiving eight of the 144 police patrol jeeps that were distributed to the different city and provincial police offices in Central Visayas yesterday.

Police Regional Office -7 Director Marcelo Garbo Jr. yesterday led the turnover of 144 police patrol jeeps to the provinces of Cebu, Bohol, Siquijor and Negros Oriental.

The newly-acquired patrol jeeps are part of the Philippine National Police’s upgrading of their anti-crime operations through improving their equipments and adding new patrol jeeps. 

The Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO), which received eight units, now has patrol jeeps in all 44 municipalities and 6 cities under their jurisdiction.

Sr. Supt. Patrocinio Comendador, CPPO director, said the additional patrol jeeps fulfilled their plans of giving each police station a patrol car of their own. “One hundred percent nga naa nay mga patrol cars ang atong mga police stations,” he said. 

In Cebu Province, Alcoy, Aloguinsan, Badian, Carcar, Consolacion, Madridejos and Talisay City Police Stations will receive the additional patrol jeeps.

The province of Bohol, will receive one for Pilar Police Station, Siquijor for E. Villanueva Police Station, and Negros Oriental with two, for Dumaguete and Valencia Police Stations.  

The additional vehicles will form part of Garbo’s plan of implementing his Police Integrated Patrolling System (PIPS) which he believes will curb crimes if properly implemented.

As the author, he believed that the program, if properly implemented, will surpass even his own expectations of its effectiveness, adding that that every policeman should master and take it to heart.   

Garbo’s PIPS has been given high regard by other regional offices as an effective tool against criminality by effectively deploying police patrols in areas of concern.  —(FREEMAN)
