4-day weekend starts Oct. 29

- Garry B. Lao -

CEBU, Philippines - There will be a four-day long weekend from October 29, Saturday, to November 1, Tuesday.

Malacañang officially declared October 31, 2011, Monday, a special non-working holiday through Proclamation No. 265 signed by President Benigno Aquino III.

The proclamation states that October 31, 2011, falling between Sunday and Tuesday, November 1, 2011, which is All Saints Day, has been traditionally declared a special (non-working) day throughout the country.

“This is to give full opportunity to our people to properly observe the day with all its religious fervor which invariably requires them to travel to and from different regions of the country. Monday, 31 October 2011, may be declared as a special (non-working) day without detriment to public interest,” the proclamation read.

Malacañang earlier declared November 1, 2011, All Saints Day, as a special non-working holiday. – (FREEMAN)
