Day care centers get school kits from PCL

CEBU, Philippines - The Philippine Councilors League (PCL) Cebu Chapter successfully distributed educational tool kits to 111 Day Care Centers in the municipalities of Dumanjug, Ronda, Alcantara, Moalboal and Badian last week.

Board Member Carmen Remedios Durano-Meca, also the president of PCL, said the kit includes reference books, story books and visual materials.

The caravan, Meca said, is aimed at making a difference in the lives of pre-school children, especially those in areas that do not have easy access to support from government in the area of education.

“We will distribute the educational tool kits to 1,152 day care centers all over the Cebu Province,” Meca said.

Governor Gwendolyn Garcia also donated P2 million to PCL to support the league’s projects.

Only P1.5 million was spent in the first round while PCL reserves the rest of the funds for barangays that have no day care centers yet.

To avail of the assistance, Meca said a barangay would need to present a resolution from its council, a deed of donation for the site and an endorsement resolution from the municipal council.

The PCL already distributed kits to the fifth district. Meca herself was councilor of Danao City, which is part of the district.

The distribution last week was the last in the second district. PCL will visit the other districts next week.

Meca said it is the objective of PCL to formulate, implement and coordinate programs, projects and activities beneficial to the general welfare of the people. — (FREEMAN)
