Councilman says ambush might be related to son's death

- Ryan Christopher J. Sorote -

CEBU, Philippines - Following an attempt to his life the other night, Barangay San Roque Councilman Bobby Morados said yesterday he has reason to believe that the attack had something to do with his son’s death four years ago.

Morados said the attack might be related to the case they are fighting in court for his son, Lawrence, who was killed on October 4, 2007.

He alleged that Alpha Kappa Rho hitman Aristotle Aves and his companion, Jesus Singson, the ones tagged in his son’s death, might be behind the recent attacks to kill him.

He said that since the first incident last August 31 wherein he survived, he has been very cautious with almost everything he does. The additional tanod escorts reportedly gave him a certain sense of security.

“It appears na my correlation to what happened in the 2007 incident where his son was gun down on the same date…pwede ni nga related gyud sa kaso,” said Cebu City Police Director Melvin Ramon Buenafe.

Morados was driving his black SUV last Tuesday night when two motorcycle-riding men appeared near the drivers’ side when the vehicle was at the corner of the New Imus Road and P. Del Rosario Extension in Barangay Lorega-San Miguel. The suspects fired three shots, leaving two bullet holes on the windshield.

Morados was lucky to only sustain a small wound on his left shoulder while his wife, who was beside him, was unhurt. He was immediately rushed to Chong Hua Hospital for medical attention. — (FREEMAN)
