5 Crips Gang members charged with murder
CEBU, Philippines - Five members of the dreaded Crips Gang were charged in court for the murder a 19-year-old boy in Barangay Kalunasan last year.
The Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office has indicted Gerald Bacalan, Joseph Gacasan, Huey Bacalan, Mar Bacalan and Dydong Labra in the murder of Julius Dechosa.
Assistant city prosecutor Rogelio del Prado found probable cause to charge the suspects with murder after they failed to submit counter-affidavits.
The prosecutor’s office recommended no bail for their temporary liberty.
Alexander Dechosa, victim’s father, said he was already sleeping in the evening of December 16, 2010 at their house in sitio Sobusteha, Kalunasan when he was awakened by their neighbor’s call informing him that his son was shot.
Dechosa said he rushed to the hospital where his son was brought and found him already dead.
According to Dechosa, Gerald Bacalan was identified by the friends of his son as the alleged gunman while the rest of the accused serve as his back-up.
Vincent Calumpiano, a resident of Opra Sobusteha, Barangay Kalunasan, said he was walking with his brother and friends in Unit 1 Opra when they heard gunshots.
Calumpiano said they saw Gerald carrying a handgun running away from the crime scene with his friends. — (FREEMAN)
