Youth groups called to support NYC registration program

CEBU, Philippines - The National Youth Commission (NYC) is calling on youth-serving organization in Central Visayas to support the commission’s Youth Organizations Registration Program.

NYC Commissioner Erwin Chua Andaya, who also heads the YORP Program, said organizations may show their support by registering with the program. The program aims to establish a link among youth organizations in the country to facilitate programs of the NYC better.

One of the benefits an organization can get if registered with the program is access to NYC initiatives for capacity building and training-workshops.

“This is also the best time to link up with NYC as the YORP Policy on Registration has recently been revised to facilitate easier registration for youth organizations,” Andaya said.

Groups qualified to register with the program are youth organizations, community-based organizations, school-based organizations, religious organizations, out-of-school youth groups, young professionals organizations, or groups of youth with special needs. Each organization must have at least 15 members aged 15 to 30 years.

The registrants must fill up a registration form with directory of members and officers and certification or endorsement from the school, barangay or church.

“Kung registered kayo with NYC, mas madali kayong matutulungan ng agency sa trainings or workshops na kailangan ng inyong org para lumago at mas makatulong pa sa inyong community,” Andaya said.

The NYC was created in 1995 pursuant to RA 8044 otherwise known as the “Youth in Nation-Building Act,” as the policy-making, coordinating body of all youth-related institutions, programs, projects, and activities of the government.
