Rerouting for Road Revolution set

CEBU, Philippines - Vehicular traffic will be temporarily rerouted in some streets from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. today for the 2nd Road Revolution and Revitalizing Historical Places event.

The City Traffic Operations Management and the Traffic Patrol Group said the affected streets will be the Mabini St. (from E. Aboitiz St. to P. Gomez St.); E. Aboitiz St. (formerly Lopez Jaena St.); and the P. Burgos St. (from V. Gullas St. to M.C. Briones St.)

Public Utility Jeepneys from the south bound for downtown area that traverse along Junquera St. shall turn right to Osmeña Boulevard, proceed to P. Lopez St., left turn to Magallanes St., left turn to D. Jakosalem St., left turn to Legaspi St., left turn to Manalili St., to their usual route, then back to their point of origin.

PUJs from the south bound for downtown area that traverse along Sikatuna St. shall turn right to Zamora St., proceed to Sanciangko St., to their usual route, then back to their point of origin.

PUJs bound for SM/North Bus Terminal/Pier area that traverses along Colon St. shall turn right to Osmeña Blvd., right turn to Plaridel St., left turn to Magallanes St., right turn to D. Jakosalem St., left turn to M.C. Briones St, left turn to M.J. Cuenco Ave., to their usual route, then to their point of destination.

PUJs that traverse along Colon St. bound for downtown area shall turn right to Osmeña Blvd., right turn to Plaridel St., right turn to Magallanes St., then back to their point of origin.

PUJs from the south bound for SM/NBT that traverses along P. del Rosario St. shall proceed to Imus Road, right turn to Sikatuna St., left turn to T. Padilla St., to their usual route, then to their point of destination.

PUJs coming from the Talamban/Pit-os with Route Nos. 13C and 62B while traversing along Sikatuna St. shall turn right to Zamora St., proceed to Sanciangko St. then to their point of destination.

PUJs bound for Apas/Lahug coming from Carbon Area that traverses along D. Jakosalem St. shall proceed to M.C. Briones St., left turn to M.J. Cuenco Ave., left turn to Bonifacio St., right turn to D. Jakosalem St. shall proceed to M.C. Briones St., left turn to M.J. Cuenco Ave., left turn to Bonifacio St., right turn to D. Jakosalem St., to their usual route, then to their point of origin.

PUJs bound for uptown area coming from Carbon shall turn left to D. Jakosalem St., left turn to Osmeña Blvd. Or at Legaspi St., to their usual route, then to their point of origin.

PUJs from Mabolo/Mandaue while traversing along V. Gullas St. shall turn left to P. Burgos St., left turn to Urdaneta St., left turn to M.J. Cuenco Ave., to their usual route, then to their point of origin.

Motorists, drivers and other road users are advised to follow the traffic signs installed in the re-routing area.

This will be the second time the Road Revolution was conducted in Cebu, the first was in June.

Vince Cinches, country coordinator of 350. Org, one of the organizing groups, said they expect 2,000 to 3,000 people to attend the event.

The event will be started with a Mass which will be celebrated by Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma.

Several activities will follow including a heritage walk, biking, skateboarding and planking.

The campaign seeks to reduce car use in favor of more eco-friendly and energy-efficient commuting systems such as bicycling and the use of an indigenous human-powered rail car. (FREEMAN)
