Ceiling collapse hurts 4 workers
CEBU, Philippines - At least four construction workers were injured when an ongoing construction collapsed along Natalio Bacalso Avenue, Barangay Basak-San Nicolas yesterday morning.
The building, which is being constructed for about five months now at the place which is formerly Rubberworld, is to rise as Rustan’s Cebu, said PO3 Diosdado Andales of Mambaling Police Station.
Andales said the workers were constructing the concrete building when the ceiling of the second floor suddenly collapsed at past 7 am.
Luckily, the workers, who are employed under Para Visible Construction Company, only sustained abrasions on their bodies and other minor injuries, Andales said.
“Mga abrasions lang ug mga bun-og,” he said.
Andales said they were not able to get the names of the victims who were taken to the Miller Memorial Sanitarium and Hospital because the security guard did not allow them to enter.
The FREEMAN also called up the hospital and tried to get the names of the victims but the staff would not reveal the names citing hospital policy.
The staff, who refused to tell her name, disclosed though that the four victims were not seriously injured. — (FREEMAN)
