Prosecutor recommends filing of case vs minor who killed mother and sister

- Ria Mae Y. Booc, Mylen P. Manto -

CEBU, Philippines - A case for special complex crime for robbery with homicide is set to be filed today before the Regional Trial Court against the 16-year-old who killed his mother and five year-old sister in Naga.

Naga City Prosecutor Napoleon Alburo recommended the filing of the case after the 16-year-old chose not to file a counter-affidavit.

However, the 16-year-old’s alleged cohort, 19-year-old Bryant Pansoy, asked for a preliminary investigation. Alburo gave Pansoy seven days to file his counter-affidavit.

Yesterday, relatives of the victims expressed fear for their lives since Sunday after one of them was allegedly blocked by unidentified motorcycle-riding-men while heading home.

The Department of Social Welfare Development (DSWD) found that there was an act of discernment on the part of the 16-year-old. Social Worker Maria Brenda Gabato said the 16-year-old knew what was right or wrong when he committed the acts.

Naga City Police Station’s Chief Inspector Timmar Alam said they have a strong case based on the circumstantial and physical evidence against the 16-year-old.

Alam said they included Pansoy as one of the suspects as the latter knew of the incident even though he was not in the crime scene.

He said they also recovered from the possession of Pansoy the motorcycle that was used and firearms.

The 16-year-old’s mother, who was eight months old pregnant, and his five-year-old sister died because of “blunt traumatic injuries and stab wounds in the head and neck.”

Meanwhile, the sister of the victim said they will ask the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to deepen the investigation.

Natividad Francia said they could not believe that it was done only by her nephew. She added that someone was behind the killing.

Francia said the husband of her late sister will arrive on Thursday. He will then decide when to bury his wife and daughter.

Meanwhile, the relatives of the victims said they have been afraid for their lives since Sunday after a family member was allegedly blocked by unidentified motorcycle-riding-men while heading home.

She said this happened after media disclosed of the presence of a cash vault containing P400,000 and some dollars owned by her late sister.

The 16-year-old suspect was allegedly a member of Trihedron fraternity.

Alam told The FREEMAN that since Sunday they have been providing two policemen to secure the victims’ house.

Aside from the two cops deployed during night time, another team conducts a random patrol in the area from time to time.
