Summary hearing up for cop tested positive of drugs

- Ria Mae Y. Booc -

CEBU, Philippines - A summary hearing is now being initiated by the Police Regional Office-7 against a policewoman in Tuburan, who tested positive of illegal drugs during a random drug test, to determine what sanctions to be meted against her.

The summary proceeding is upon the recommendation of Atty. Julius Ompad, chief of the Provincial Investigation and Detective Management Branch, after they have initially found her guilty of grave misconduct.

A return to work order was also issued last week against the policewoman who has gone absent without official leave (AWOL) since August 24.

The policewoman, whose name withheld by the Cebu Provincial Police Office, is a resident of Poblacion, Asturias. She used to be assigned at the Women and Children Protection Desk in Tuburan Police Station.

The policewoman was found positive of using illegal drugs during a random drug test in August 16. Since then the policewoman applied for leave which ended in August 24.

However, she did not anymore report to his new assignment at the CPPO headquarters.

Inspector Catalina Diotay, chief of the WCPD of the CPPO, said a return to work order was already issued to the policewoman where the latter was given five days to report upon receipt of the order.

Diotay said that based on their last information the policewoman was in General Santos City. They have also information that she is already starting to “hallucinate.’

Diotay said if the policewoman fails to report within 30 days since August 24 she will be recommended to be dropped from the roster of personnel.    - (THE FREEMAN)
