City Hall starts search for new OSCA head
CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu City Government starts the search for the head of the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) after Guillermo Casinillo resigned from his post due to health reasons.
Casinillo’s term as OSCA head is also about to expire since he has been in service for three years already.
The City Council, last Wednesday, approved the new guidelines for the selection of the nominees for the position and the council is rushing to find a replacement to avoid vacuum in the office.
The new OSCA head will be chosen from the top three nominees to be endorsed by the senior citizens organizations accredited by the Department of the Social Welfare and Development and the City Government.
The qualifications for the next OSCA chief shall be: He should be a Filipino Citizen and a resident of Cebu City for at least a year; he should be a registered voter; can read and write; physically and mentally capable for the task; and a bona fide member of a duly registered senior citizens organization.
Apart from being a bona fide member of the organization, the nominee must have a track record of at least three consecutive years and must be a high school graduate at least.
Nominees will be chosen via secret balloting. Before the election of the top three nominees, the senior citizens organization in each barangay shall call a general assembly to choose one person to become their representative.
The top three nominees will be forwarded to Mayor Michael Rama, who will appoint the new OSCA head. — (FREEMAN)
