Pusher eludes arrest
CEBU, Philippines - An alleged drug pusher eluded arrest during a foiled buy-bust operation in Sitio Suba, Barangay Poblacion, Argao town, yesterday morning.
Victor Campaner managed to escape by jumping over the perimeter fence behind his house as the Argao police ran after him.
The only evidence that the police have is a small packet of shabu taken from the alleged pusher during the transaction.
Chief Insp. Alejandro Batobalonos, chief of the Argao Police Station, said that just as the poseur-buyer completed the transaction they rushed to the house to arrest Campaner but it was already too late.
Batobalonos said that Campaner immediately locked the bamboo gate and ran inside his house, exiting out the backdoor.
Campaner’s neighbors then told the police that the alleged pusher had already fled.
Batobalonos added that the narrow road made it difficult for them to chase the alleged pusher.
“Tua pa gani ang P500 nga buy-bust money nadala niya, idlas lang gyud ni siya,” he said.
Police said Campaner has long been engaged in the illegal drug trade in the mentioned barangay. He also has drug runners who sell his shabu in other areas.
“Wala mi kakuha if asa ni iyang area of distribution kay runner ra man ani ang mubaligya,” Batobalonos said.
The daughter of Campaner allegedly said that her mother will take over in selling shabu if her father is not around.
The daughter claimed that she was left with no choice but to accept the situation since they do not have any other source of living.
She also told police that the second story of their house also serves as a drug den for her father’s customers. — (FREEMAN)
