Comelec's Buac dies at 54
CEBU, Philippines -Commission on Elections (Comelec) 7 Director Rene Buac succumbed to heart attack at the Perpetual Soccour Hospital last Tuesday. He was 54.
Comelec assistant regional director lawyer Veronico Petalcorin said yesterday the regional director had undergone a heart bypass operation and was brought to the hospital last week when he was admitted for suffering a headache.
Petalcorin said Buac also suffered a mild stroke at the hospital and subsequently went into coma until he passed away last Tuesday.
Buac served the Comelec for 26 years as assistant election officer, election officer and provincial election supervisor in his hometown in Siquijor. It was in 2007 when he was appointed Regional Director for Central Visayas.
Provincial Assistant Election Supervisor Boy Gonnie Neis said Buac’s remains will be brought to his hometown in Siquijor at 11am today. He will be buried over the weekend.
His remains lie at St. Peter’s funeral homes in Imus New Road. — (FREEMAN)
