NBI opens satellite office in Tuburan

CEBU, Philippines - The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)-7 launches its first satellite office in Cebu Province yesterday.

NBI National Deputy Director for Technical Services Atty. Reynaldo Esmeralda told The FREEMAN that they chose Tuburan town for their first satellite office in Cebu.

Esmeralda said that expenses for the equipment were shouldered by the Municipal Government of Tuburan represented by Mayor Democrito Diamante.

The equipment were estimated to cost P308,000.

He said they will provide one NBI officer Tuburan and the town will provide five support personnel.

The new satellite office will cater to 11 municipalities: Asturias, Balamban, Daanbantayan, Bantayan, Medellin, Tuburan, San Remegio, Sogod, Tabuelan, Tabogon and Pinamungajan. It will also serve Toledo and Bogo Cities. Esmeralda said the new satellite office can lesser the volume of applicants at the main office and people from the northern towns can also save money, time and energy.

He revealed that during the launching, many applicants went to apply for clearance.

Esmeralda added that the operation will go full blast on Monday.

The new satellite office uses the biometric scanner, new system at the NBI and will open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during weekdays.

It is located inside the municipal hall of Tuburan.  (FREEMAN)
