Scissor-wielding "carnapper" faces raps

- Mylen P. Manto -

CEBU, Philippines - Attempted carnapping charges were filed last Saturday before the City Prosecutor’s Office against Christopher Tiu Tan who was arrested by members of the Mobile Patrol Group along Don Avila St., Barangay Capitol Site on August 26, 2011 at 8:a.m.

Ma. Priscilla Melendres, 33 a resident of Saint James St., La Guardia, Barangay Lahug, Cebu City, pursued the filing of charges against Tan.

In her complaint-affidavit, Melendres stated that on August 26 she was driving her Mitsubishi Montero Sport to bring her daughter to school.

After dropping off her daughter, she went back to her vehicle but when she was about to enter her car, Tan allegedly pushed her aside and pointed a pair of scissors at her.

She said the respondent was behind her at that time so she shouted for help. This prompted Tan to run away but bystanders in the area chased him.

Melendres said she asked for assistance from the Mobile Patrol Group who passed by the area and later arrested Tan who was brought to Fuente Police Station.

The personnel of the Mobile Patrol Group said they will file additional charges against Tan after they were able to confiscate two packets of suspected shabu. — (FREEMAN)
