Robber of delivery van leaves bag with ID
CEBU, Philippines - Three persons who robbed a delivery van at Sitio Awayan, Barangay Poblacion 3, Carcar City Saturday evening was able to take only P610 from one of the victims after the other victim fought back when he realized that one of the robbers was only using a toy gun.
One of the three robbers was identified as Ronnie Teñero, the former driver of the same delivery van. He was identified through his driver’s license placed inside his bag which he left in the van. The delivery van is owned by the VisMin Trading located at the Carbon Market in Cebu City.
Romeo de la Cruz Jr., 34, of Barangay Ermita, Cebu City and driver of the delivery van, sustained injuries after he jumped and escaped.
Robbers only took the shoulder bag of Daisy Martires, the sales representative of the trading company.
De la Cruz said they were delivering assorted products at Sitio Lower Cambuntan, Barangay Bolinawan when he noticed the presence of the robbers.
He said that when they were done and about to leave the area, one of the robbers approached them and poked a fake caliber .45 pistol at him. He was asked to disembark and was told to transfer at the back while one of the robbers took over the driver’s seat and another sat next to Martires.
Senior Police Officer 1 Joel Pananganan of the Carcar Police Station said that the robber drove the van and when they reached sitio Awayan, Barangay Poblacion 3, they noticed that de la Cruz had jumped.
Pananganan said that de la Cruz managed to fight back when he noticed that the robber was holding a toy gun loaded with pellets.
“Nag-linayugay sila sa likod ug dihang nakakita siya ug timing nakalayat siya,” the cop said.
The two robbers, who might have been afraid that de la Cruz would seek help, hurriedly left the van and took the shoulder bag of Martires.
“Sa kahadlok ug dali-dali ilang bag nga gidala nahibilin na hinuon,” Pananganan said.
Police said the driver’s license taken from the bag serves as their lead to arrest the robbers. — (FREEMAN)
