CEBU, Philippines - A man was killed while another was injured when a motorcycle crashed along the barangay road of Sitio Pilit, Barangay Nangka, Balamban late afternoon on Wednesday.
Motorcycle driver Jose Rene Agbay, 38, of Sitio Canaol, Barangay Obugon, Asturias died after hitting his head on a pine tree.
His back rider Jerry Tughong, 19, of Sitio Libaong, Barangay San Isidro, Asturias, sustained minor injuries.
He brought Agbay to the Balamban District Hospital but the latter did not make it and died along the way.
Police said the two were onboard a Rusi motorcycle bearing the plate number 88069IP, heading south from Barangay San Isidro when the incident happened.
Police Officer 3 Rolando Navarro, Balamban traffic investigator said the victims were traveling on the rough road amid heavy rains. He suspected that the motorcycle slipped which have caused the crash.
“Uwan kaayo to unya ang dalan rough road, basa na ba kaayo ambot nganong wala pud sila muhunong,” Navarro said.
Navarro added that during the crash, Tughong was dragged together with the motorcycle while, Agbay hit the tree. Police said nobody was blamed for the incident because it was an accident. (FREEMAN)
