Stray bullet injures child in Carcar
CEBU, Philippines - A 9-year-old child was hit by a stray bullet while gathering firewood in Sitio Bonbon, Barangay Ocaña, Carcar City at about 4:15 in the afternoon on Sunday.
Angelo Gayloa, a grade four student of Ocaña Elementary School, sustained a gunshot wound to his left knee and was rushed to the Carcar District Hospital for treatment where he was declared out of danger.
Police said Gayloa was gathering firewood to be used in cooking their dinner when he heard a single burst of gunfire.
The victim told investigators he ignored the sound but was surprised when he felt severe pain. He then noticed he was wounded on the knee.
Even in pain, Gayloa managed to return home and asked for help.
Carcar police are looking into the incident as they remain clueless on who indiscriminately fired a gun since nobody was around.
Authorities believed the child was hit by a stray bullet which was fired not far from the place. - (THE FREEMAN)
