Alleged gang member slain

CEBU, Philippines - An alleged gang member met his untimely death after he was shot by a trysikad driver Tuesday evening in sitio Kulo, Barangay Inayawan, Cebu City.

Cezar Bas Jr., 19, of Inayawan Proper and an alleged member of Crips gang, sustained several gunshot wounds to his body after he was shot by a certain “To-ting,” a trysikad driver, of Barangay Dawis Talisay City, around 8:30 p.m.

According to police, Bas was with his friends in front of a videoke house in the area when the assailant arrived and shot him several times.

The victim’s companions rushed him to Cebu City Medical Center where he was later declared dead on arrival.

Bas is the fourth fatality in gang-related crimes in the city since Friday last week.

Meanwhile, Agsungot barangay captain Pastor Alcover Jr. said he is shelling out P10,000 as reward to those who can give information about the whereabouts of the suspect in last Monday’s killing of a 24-year-old massage therapist.

Maricris Villadolid, 24, a therapist at the Holiday Spa, was killed allegedly by Arnel Padillo, the cousin of her live-in partner, Richard Taburnal.

Alcover said they already coordinated with the neighboring barangays for the immediate arrest of the suspect.

“Pasiuna lang una ni nga reward money if naay interesado mohatag og reward money welcome kaayo kay importante naa makahatag og inpormasyon sa suspect. Nagduda mi nga naa pa siya sa Cebu City,” Alcover said.

Alcover said the motive of the killing was robbery.

“Naa na gyud ni siya (suspect) background nga manghilabot. Gani nakadawat ta og report nga giunay pud niya og kawat ang cell phone sa iyang uyab ug ig-agaw. Gani duna higayon nahubog ang suspect naghisgot pud ni siya nga duna siya gipatay sa Leyte,” Alcover said.

After Villadolid’s killing, Padillo has nowhere to be found in the barangay. (FREEMAN)
