Gang member shot dead by rivals
CEBU, Philippines - A member of the Crips gang was shot dead by a member of the rival gang Bloods yesterday afternoon at Sitio Bagong Buhay, Barangay Carreta, Cebu City.
Eleuterio Elleacone Jr., 21, a resident of the said place, was shot dead by Elmer Colongan and another unidentified man, who were later identified as members of the Bloods gang.
According to the victim’s father, Eleuterio Sr., his son left their house at around 2 p.m. after he received a call on his cellular phone.
Witnesses later saw the victim waiting for someone outside the Carreta gymnasium. A boy also alleged that he saw the two men watching the victim as he sat there.
The heavy populated area suddenly burst in chaos after a gunshot was heard near the Carreta gymnasium. Seconds later, the victim was seen limping with a gunshot wound in his leg.
According to witnesses, one of the assailants allegedly pursued the victim and finished him off with a shot to the chest. The victim fell to the ground near M.J. Cuenco Ave.
While the two suspects fled the scene, Carcar policeman PO2 Alex Buanghog, who was off-duty at the time, saw the two carrying their firearms.
“Nasugatan nako ang duha ka tawo nagbitbit og armas, pagkakita nila nako mi-aksyon sila’g takas ug nag harap-harapan gyud mi,” said Buanghog.
Colongan allegedly shot at Buanghog who returned fired.
The policeman’s third shot hit Colongan in the chest and he fell to the ground. His accomplice was able to flee.
Colongan was immediately rushed to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center. As of last night he was still in the trauma room under guard.
Elleacone Sr. went to the area to see his son facedown and dead in a pool of blood.
“Biktima gyud ni akong anak aning ilang mga grupo, di man gud mopatuo ang mga batan-on karon… naa gyud ni siyay kaaway - tuo nako atraso ni sa Bloods nga ilang kontra,” he said. (FREEMAN)
