Marijuana worth P200T uprooted
CEBU, Philippines - More than 18,000 fully grown marijuana stalks amounting to more or less P200,000 were uprooted by the Regional Public Safety Battalion during separate operations in Badian town early morning yesterday.
But only 1,450 fully grown marijuana plants were brought to the RPSB office in Sibonga town as evidence because of the difficulty in bringing all the plants.
No cultivators were arrested.
Senior Insp. Roland Alizer, who headed the first team, conducted marijuana eradication in Sitio Butong, Barangay Basiao while another team headed by Insp. Ryan Jay Orapa operated in Sitio Busay, Barangay Patung.
Alizer’s team had brought back 1,200 marijuana plants while, Orapa’s team brought back 250.
Both barangays are considered among those with rampant marijuana plantations.
Alizer told The FREEMAN that the terrain of the place and the bad weather condition hampered what was supposed to be a two-day operation.
“Sa kalisod sa dalan ug sa kakusog sa uwan kina-hanglan mi monaog unya gisunog na lang namo didto ang uban kay dili na gyud madala,” Alizer said.
Both teams started their operation in the boundaries of the towns of Badian and Dalaguete and they walked some distance before they decided to pull out from the place.
Alizer said they will be going back to the area to continue their operation. (FREEMAN)
