Two suspected robbers arrested
CEBU, Philippines - Two suspected motorcycle-riding robbers who are allegedly responsible in the spate of robbery incidents in Barangays Lahug, Apas and Carreta were arrested yesterday by the joint operatives of the Theft and Robbery Section and the Investigation and Detective Management Branch of the Cebu City Police Office.
Renan Genson, 22, and Clifford Gallardo, 19, were apprehended in Laguerta, Lahug at 1:00 p.m. yesterday following a tip from an informant.
TRS chief Rolando Pinili said a certain James, who is allegedly the leader of the gang, was able to elude arrest during the operation. The police were on a hot pursuit operation after the suspects were tagged by witnesses in the robbery of call center agent Bryan Garcia yesterday dawn.
Garcia was on his way home in Carreta at 2:00 a.m. yesterday when three motorcycle-riding men robbed him of his laptop, cellphone and P6,000 cash. TRS operatives recovered a red motorcycle believed to have been used by the suspects at the residence of Gallardo.
Gallardo and Genson were also positively identified by Garcia as among those who robbed him.
The two are also suspects in the robbery of Maria Almasol, 19, and Diane Bejemino, 26, in July 27 and 28 respectively. – (FREEMAN)
