City Hall boards and commissions Rama takes on 14 chairmanships
CEBU, Philippines - Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama took over the chairmanships of 14 out of the 20 boards and commissions he had, so far, ordered to be revamped.
The 14 boards and commissions that he now chairs include the Women’s and Family Affairs Commission, the Anti-mendicancy Board, Mining Regulatory Board, Coastline Management Board, Solid Waste Management Board, Commission for the Welfare and Protection of Children, Bantay Dagat Commission, Local Housing Board, Zoning Board and Resource Management and Development Center.
The Mayor also heads the Police Coordinating and Advisory Council, Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council and the Community Scouts Commission.
He is however allowing some individuals to represent him in other commissions like Renato Mercado who sits on his behalf in the Community Scouts Division and Mining Regulatory Board, Phillip Zafra in CMB and Bantay Dagat Commission, Belinda Navascues in the Resource Management and Development Center and Hillyland Management Board and Consultant Eugene Elizalde in the PCAC.
Councilor Eduardo Rama will also represent the Mayor in the Solid Waste Management Board.
The Mayor allowed Councilor Augustus Pe, Jr. to retain the chairmanship of the People’s Law Enforcement Board-South and the Cultural Historical Affairs Commission to Vice Mayor Joy Augustus Young.
Councilor Sisinio Andales also remained the chairman of the Youth Development Commission while Edward Hayco is still the chairman of the Sports Commission.
The chairmanship of the Plaza Independencia-Fort San Pedro Interim Policy and Advisory Board was given to Manuel Legaspi while the Parks and Playground Commission remains in the leadership of Dr. Librado Macaraya, Jr.
Former executive director of the Local Housing Board Niceforo Iroy is no longer part of the board. He was replaced by Lorna Saliendra.
The Mayor is yet to decide on the two people’s organization and two non-government organizations to be part of the housing board. Councilor Alvin Dizon is now the Vice Chairman.
City Administrator Jose Marie Poblete said that what the Mayor has done in the composition of boards and commissions are all provided in the ordinances that created these commissions.
He said there are the rest of the almost 100 boards and commissions under the office of the Mayor are still to be decided. There are boards and commission found to be inactive which the mayor has not decided yet whether to dissolve or not. – (FREEMAN)
