CEBU, Philippines - The daughter of the late vice governor Gregorio Sanchez, Jr. presented pieces of evidence in the complaint for acts of usurpation he filed against Governor Gwendolyn Garcia.
In a hearing conducted by the Department of Interior and Local Government yesterday, Engineer Grecilda Sanchez-Zaballero took the witness stand and presented piles of documents to Ranny Spencer Palisoc, DILG hearing officer, as proofs of Garcia’s alleged “usurpation of power.”
Zaballero also introduced her new lawyers led by Joseph Randy Torregosa.
Zaballero’s documents allegedly showed the governor transferring the plantilla items of the Provincial Board consultants to her office in 2009.
She also showed documents on the alleged slashing of budget of the vice governor’s office from P17 million to P2 million, and the stopping of the Legislative Gavel, a monthly publication of the Provincial Board.
Today, Zaballero will present the evidence on the alleged non-payment for the overtime services of Sanchez’s staff by Garcia.
The DILG investigating panel officially removed yesterday lawyer Crisologo Saavedra, as witness in the case.
It will summon three reporters to identify their articles on Garcia’s withdrawal of the appointments of Sanchez’s staff and consultants.
The DILG investigation will run until Aug. 4. - (THE FREEMAN)
