Judges request P2M travel funds from CH

CEBU, Philippines - Cebu City judges are requesting almost P2 million funding from the city government to defray their traveling expenses during the two international congresses that they intend to participate on October this year and May next year.

The Philippine Women Judges Association (PWJA) and the Philippine Judges Association (PJA) are respectively requesting P1.2 million and P750,000 financial aid at P150,000 travel budget for each delegate they are sending to these events.

The PJA is planning to send five delegates to attend the 24th Biennial Congress in Prague, Czech Republic on October 23 to 28 this year.

The event has always been a venue for a dynamic and open forum where legal professionals can share experiences and learn from the others by exchanging ideas.

The funding request which would total to P750,000 for five delegates at P150,000 each, shall cover the registration fee, hotel accommodation, transportation and other incidentals.

Similarly, PWJA is planning to attend the 11th Biennial Conference in London, United Kingdom in May 2 to 5 next year where they plan to send eight delegates.

PWJA’s P1.2-million request shall cover for the participants’ registration fee, hotel accommodation, transportation and other possible incidentals.

The event is organized by the International Association of Women Judges.

The request is still being assessed by the office of Mayor Michael Rama.

The city government is giving monthly allowances to 21 Regional Trial Court judges, seven Municipal Trial Court in Cities judges, and the seven Court of Appeals justices in Cebu City.

The RTC judges receive up to P35,000 monthly allowance from the city government while the MTCC judges receive up to P30,000 monthly allowance. The CA justices receive up to P45,000 monthly allowance. (FREEMAN)
