Man shoots his sister dead

CEBU, Philippines - A 47-year-old woman was shot dead by her own brother due to a land dispute in Barangay Togonon, Danao City Sunday afternoon.

Teresa Capuno Sapa, 47, a farmer, was doing her laundry when Teotino Mangas Capuno, married, arrived and shot his sister. He remains at large.

Sapa sustained gunshot wounds in her left upper arm and right side of her body. She was taken to Danao District Hospital but she was pronounced dead a few minutes later.

Capuno allegedly envied Sapa who owns a hectare of land with fully-grown mango trees.

Recently, Sapa earned a huge amount of cash after she sold baskets of mangoes in which she also shared some of the proceeds to Capuno. 

PO2 Marlon Remollo, Danao police investigator, said Capuno got irked when Sapa shared only a little portion of her proceeds.

“Dugay na pud na siya mura’g nasuya sa iyang igsuon tungod lagi anang yutaa,” Remollo said.

Witnesses said that Capuno fled on foot after she shot Sapa. However, no evidence was found in the crime scene.

Police said the family of Sapa is yet to decide if they will be filing a case against Capuno or not.   - (THE FREEMAN)
