Woman shot dead in front of live-in partner, friend

CEBU, Philippines - A woman was shot dead by an unidentified suspect along Terry Ville Street in Barangay Lahug yesterday afternoon.

The victim, Jenny Consuelo, 30, was shot point blank in front of her live-in partner Christopher Asoy, 27, a resident of Barangay Balod, San Fernando, and her friend, Marry Suarez, 24, a resident of Barangay Guadalupe.

Asoy told authorities the three of them were chatting under a tree around 5:45 pm when a black Honda XRM motorcycle suddenly stopped in front of them. One of the men on board the motorcycle immediately disembarked and approached the three.

When he was close enough, the man reportedly asked his accomplice, “asa ani bay?” Suddenly, the suspect pulled out a gun and fired at Consuelo on the forehead.

The victim fell to the ground as the suspect hopped back on the motorcycle and sped away.

Asoy and Suarez brought Consuelo to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, but she was declared dead on arrival.

Suarez said she already noticed the two men passing by them several times before the shooting.

PO2 Julius Regis of the Cebu City Homicide section said they are eying the possibility that the victim’s former lover, a 70-year-old foreigner, might have orchestrated the killing. (FREEMAN)
