Is CCMC chief Sedoripa quitting his post?

- Jessica Ann R. Pareja -

CEBU, Philippines - The Department of Health 7 yesterday turned over a check worth P6 million to the city government for the purchase of medical equipment and other supplies for the Guba Community Hospital in the mountain barangay of Guba.

DOH7 previously donated P8 million to the city to rehabilitate the dilapidating hospital.

Eduardo Sedoripa, OIC-Chief of the Cebu City Medical Center, the entity that manages the Guba Community Hospital, said the P6 million will be used to purchase equipment for the hospital in Guba.

The city government itself plans to appropriate P5 million under the proposed Supplemental Budget No. 2 for the salary of additional personnel that will be deployed in Guba. Part of the amount will also be used to purchase other needed equipment.

The community hospital needs additional personnel to fully operate, particularly nurses, doctors, medical officers, as well as administrative staff to man the facility. At present, the hospital only has two doctors, four nurses and three midwives.

Meanwhile, Mayor Michael Rama announced that Sedoripa might quit as OIC-Chief of CCMC reportedly because his family will be migrating to another country.

Sedoripa, however, was quick to dismiss the reports. “Storya lang na,” he said.

Sedoripa took over as OIC-Chief of Hospital of CCMC last January, replacing Dr. Myrna Go. Rama himself noted positive developments at the city-run hospital following Sedoripa’s assumption as CCMC head.

Rama said he will regret losing Sedoripa, if ever, but will not prevent him from making plans with his family. He said he has someone in mind to take over the post should Sedoripa decides to leave. —(FREEMAN)
