Call center agent raped in Mandaue

- Flor Z. Perolina -

CEBU, Philippines -   An 18-year-old call center agent was allegedly raped and robbed by two unidentified men while she was walking home from work yesterday dawn along Alinsug St., Barangay Paknaan, Mandaue City.

The incident took place at about 1:40 a.m. when the woman, who was about 500 meters away from her home, was suddenly approached by the perpetrators who asked her what time it was.

After she answered them, one of the perpetrators, whom she described to be 5’4” tall and wearing denim pants and a blue and orange shirt, suddenly pulled out a knife and grabbed her bag.

The other perpetrator started frisking her whole body and then dragged her towards a dark area where some private vehicles were parked.

There the two took turns raping her then left with her bag, her pants and underwear.

The victim covered herself with her jacket as best she could and sought for help from neighbors, one of them let her borrow a skirt and called the police to report the incident.

Investigative and Detective Management Bureau chief Rex Lomente said the city’s Mobile Patrol Group then arrived and brought the victim to the Mandaue City Police Office. She was also advised to visit the Pink Room of the Vicente Sotto Memorial Center in Cebu City.

Lomente said that the victim has not yet recovered from her ordeal as she was still in shock when interviewed yesterday.

Police expect to be able to release a facial composite of one of the perpetrators soon.

Lomente added they believe the perpetrators may be residents of the area where the crime was committed as it is considered a favorite hangout of some gangs frequently seen in the area. —/BRP (FREEMAN)
