Son did not steal pa's guns

- Mechievilla Carline Benolerao -

CEBU, Philippines - The wife of a former Presidential Anti-Organize Crime Task Force (PAOCTF) member, who reported to the police station accusing his son of stealing his high-powered guns, said the story was not true at all.

Rosabilla Pangahin, wife of former PAOCTF member Pedro Pangahin of Brgy. Suba, Cebu City, came to the Theft and Robbery Section (TRS) Monday morning to complain against the accusation made by her husband against their son, Renante.

Rosabilla said she learned of the accusation when she read it in The Freeman’s issue last Sunday. The news hurt her.

“Nasakit ko, pirteng hilaka nako pagkabasa…gipalarga nalang gud nako sa Negros ang akong anak,” Rosabilla said. (I was so sad I cried a lot. I asked my son to go to Negros.)

She added that Renante was angry and deeply hurt as well, as he did not expect that his father could do that to him.

She claimed that the M16 armalite was not stolen but was sold to someone four years ago, right after Pedro resigned. The .45 pistol was lost, she said.

It was she and her husband who decided to sell the firearm to pay their debts, she added.

Pedro had told the police that he discovered the missing firearms when he got home last Friday. But Rosabilla said this could not be true, because Pedro did not come home last Friday.

She claimed she was not even aware that Pedro was in Cebu, because as far as she knows, he was in Manila working as driver for VIPs.

She added that their neighbors also reacted after reading the news.

“Pakaulaw man lang na imong bana uy. Pakauwawan man ang anak nuon,” her neighbors told her. (What a shame for your husband to embarrass your son like that.) (FREEMAN)
