CEBU, Philippines - Police Regional Office-7 director Chief Supt. Ager Ontog confirmed that Cebu City Investigation and Detective Management Branch chief Chief Insp. George Ylanan will soon be relieved and reassigned to the Cebu Provincial Police Office.
Ontog told The FREEMAN that Ylanan’s relief will also serve as his promotion. The order for his relief was set to take effect on June 15.
Last week, Ontog had a talk with Ylanan suggesting that he should be a chief of police instead of being a chief of a Cebu City police unit due to the span of his experience as IDMB chief.
“I suggested him as COP instead sa unit lang and he even suggested also na sa province siya,” Ontog said.
The regional director said Ylanan has been serving the Cebu City IDMB for the more than eight years now and its time for him to experience a new environment.
“That’s a normal transfer for an official to move out to other regions and headquarters… It’s a chance and an opportunity for him to lead a station depende sa provincial director if saan siya ilalagay,” Ontog said.
Ylanan’s current superior, Cebu City Police Office director Senior Supt. Melvin Ramon Buenafe, confirmed the relief but said he has not yet received any formal order.
Buenafe said he only learned about the relief from Ylanan himself.
Ylanan, when sought for comment, said he will just issue a statement as soon as he receives the order.
In a separate interview, Cebu Provincial Police Office director Patrocinio Comendador said he will also wait for the order before issuing any directives. (FREEMAN)
