Driver hangs self after spat with wife

CEBU, Philippines - A father of three hung himself inside their house early morning yesterday at sitio Holy Spirit, barangay Inayawan, Cebu City.

Danny Fernandez, 30, reportedly felt bad after his wife Sheree Ann scolded him for going home at 3:00 in the morning.

Fernandez was found by Sherwin Bacansas, his brother-in-law, hanging with a nylon rope around his neck. The rope was tied to the ceiling of their living room.

The Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation that responded to the incident saw no foul play was involved.

Danny, a former company driver of Suntrade Marketing, had a heated argument with Sheree, after which he told her to go to sleep.

Sheree said she saw Danny took a nylon rope before she and their children went to bed.

The couple’s neighbors said Danny took a sick leave because he had his tooth extracted, but the company no longer took him back.

“Ang giingon ra man wala na siya dawata pagbalik nya human gapaibot og ngipon,” PO3 Ruth Violango, homicide police investigator said.

Sheree further said her husband had previously attempted to commit suicide by putting a gun against his head.

“Naa na siya’y pistola pero dili ra man pud niya dayunon maong wala ra pud ko,” Sheree said.

Danny’s remains now lies at the St. Francis Funeral Homes in barangay Labangon. — (FREEMAN)
