Edu not bothered by rift between Mike, BOPK
CEBU, Philippines - While admitting that the tension in Bando Osmeña – Pundok Kauswagan (BOPK) has saddened him, Councilor Eduardo Rama refuses to be bothered by recent events, saying they will just hinder him from doing his job right.
Rama said he is also not bothered by his exclusion from the meeting called by Cebu City South District Rep. Tomas Osmeña and members of the City Council, including Vice Mayor Augustus Joy Young, the other night.
“I do not want to sulk because it will hinder me from doing my job right. I refuse to think of politics right now,” Rama said.
Rama is the nephew of Mayor Michael Rama whose relationship with Osmeña began turning sour in recent months. The mayor eventually bolted out of BOPK just this month.
The younger Rama said he would rather concentrate on his duties as councilor, especially that he is on his last term in office. He currently heads the committee on public services in the City Council.
He also said that nothing has changed as far as his relationship with fellow councilors is concerned.
“Okay ra man gihapon. We’re all professionals there. We prioritize public service over politics,” he said, adding, he has not been thinking of leaving BOPK.
He said he does not think that his fellow councilors will take his chairmanship post in the committee on public services, but expressed, nevertheless, that he cannot do anything if they indeed would.
Vice Mayor Joy Augustus Young said earlier they did not invite nor informed Rama about the meeting Sunday night purposely to spare him from possible doubts on the part of the mayor that his nephew is siding with BOPK. - (THE FREEMAN)
